My Home #10: Wooden kitchen utensils

December is for dreaming

… and one of my dreams is to bring a lot of wooden and vintage items into my kitchen, to balance out my modern gadgets.

I think that my most favourite utensil in the kitchen is the beautiful red-tinged wooden spoon that has been passed down from mother to daughter.

When I use her (the spoon, not the mother), I can feel the homesteading genes kick in. It is like having grandma at my side in the kitchen.

I have recently purchased (from Amazon) some wooden measuring spoons and scoops to add to the collection and they are also lovely. I know that way down on the merchandise ladder, someone made a little profit by making them but, oh, how precious it would be to know the person who made them.

The dream would be to buy locally or at least directly from the person who made the tools .. by hand … with care and artistry.
