It has been amazing, watching the lettuce grow before our eyes.
One afternoon, we saw it jump within an hour. It is wild! I’m loving this experiment.
I’m still predicting that it will be two more weeks before we harvest.
The lettuce that sits closest to the door and sunlight are the largest but the rest don’t look unhealthy so that is good.
New Planting
I originally planted in 6 of the 12 pods, giving them enough room to grow.
Today, at 10 Days in, I planted another pod with a single seed. The first batch all have multiple seeds in each sponge pod. It will be interesting to see if that makes a difference.
I am guessing that by the time this little guy gets big, we will be harvesting the lettuce that are near it.
Taste Test
I did thin the one pod a little bit, giving Rick and I each a taste test of this “ Dillon”variety of lettuce.
The baby leaves were very sweet. That will be nice in a salad. Can’t wait!!

EDIT
AND HERE IS DAY 11 Check out the little leaves that are starting to curl! The DILLON lettuce is an iceberg variety and is supposed to reach maturity in 45 days. We are 1/4 the way there.
