It’s early Christmas morning and due to the weather and some “under the weather-ness” our family get-together has been postponed.
That leaves me with a lot of free time on my hands. So what do I do? Some meaningless scrolling through social media.
On a normal day, I am quite selective as to what gets more than that split second of my attention. This morning, I’m registering what is out there and I’m reflecting…
My take-away message for the morning is that the homesteading mindset does not focus on how we look. It is not about climbing the corporate ladder or acquiring the bling.
If you “look” you can see the old mindset that evolved over the last hundred years, that really lead us off the path of doing our best at putting a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes on our backs, and living a life of stewardship, of contribution to community, and taking care of the earth.
The old mindset is scrambling to hold on but the shift is happening. We are remembering.
Homesteading, the mindset, is about getting back to the simplicity of life, of living the priorities of life, of what really matters.
And, as we embrace that lifestyle and we walk through our days happy, empowered, confident, and fulfilled, the shift away from that which we were will happen faster and faster.
For 2023, I shall be living more consciously, more clearly, more empowered, more grounded, and .. happier.
I wish you a glorious 2023, filled with all that helps you walk your empowered life! May it be a homesteading-ish one. - Debbie
