After the Rain, Look for Lilacs?
As the weather outside gets frightful...  this lilac syrup will be quite delightful?

A taste of spring, the whole year through. 

  • 2 cups of warm water
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 cups of lilac flowers(no stems or leaves) 8-10 blueberries for color 

  • Gently rinse and clean your lilac flowers
  • Combine water and sugar and whisk until sugar is dissolved 
  • Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Add the lilac flowers and blueberries, reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 mins. 

  • Strain through a fine mesh strainer to remove all plant material.

Laddle into hot sterilized jars using a laddle and canning funnel. Wipeyour jar rims with a paper towel that is dampened with vinegar then process in a hot water bath for 10 minutes. 

Store for up to one year.
Refrigerate after opening for up to 1 month.
